THE BRIEF

This project was designing the vision for NWEA Ontos, an adaptive digital learning platform created for students and teachers to improve student’s knowledge growth while providing customized recommendations to empower educators. The visionary design work I did on this project took our clients, NWEA, to new heights to be acquired by one of the top curricumlum providers in the world, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

My teammates and I created a collateral package for product Ontos— it’s debut and birdsong to academia worldwide.

Helping shape the story

Before this project, I made a sales deck for Ontos, highlighting all its features. The client used it to research pricing and introduce Ontos to HMH executives. This deck below was an inspirational foundation for storyboarding and site-mapping for the prototype.

Design & Prototyping

We aimed to educate NWEA's new owners, HMH, after their January 2023 acquisition. I led the Ontos product design, critical in the $1 billion acquisition. Ontos is an AI and ontology mapping student knowledge, offering personalized lessons, assessments, and teacher recommendations. I created a teacher and student journey map using Ontos to prototype.

Writing user stories with my partner helped me design a true day in the life school story for a teacher and students using Ontos, and the user stories also ensured that I incorporated all of Ontos's unique features in the prototype. Above is the user story for the last leg of the prototype— the teacher is done with classes for the day and is ready to review assessment results from today’s classes.
